Anti-Fog Glass

Anti-Fog Glass A large percentage of driving accidents are caused by visibility problems and trying to drive with a windscreen that is fogged up can be lethal.  Now a group of scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology are saying that they may just have a solution for us.

Michael Rubner and his team have used nanotechnology to create a coating that can be applied to glass.  This coating, which is smooth to the naked eye, actually consists of polymer chains and uses a positive to negative force actually bind to the glass.

Layer upon layer is created with the end result being a very porous coating.  Water droplets fall into these pores and form a uniform sheet using a “wicking” effect.  So water droplets are not created on the surface of the glass and as such cannot scatter light so you end up with a very transparent glass / lens.
